An Example of a Business Videocast - Get Creative

Get Creative is creativepro.com’s regular video podcast.

Videocasting and Podcasting

In each episode, industry expert Shellie Hall highlights relevant news, tells you about hot products, surveys some of her favorite Web sites, and more.

This is a good example of a business Videocast. A regular weekly show that focuses on industry related news with a few tips and tricks thrown in. A little about them and then I’ll try and make a few remarks as to how they could improve and leverage their marketing efforts.

In their own words:

Welcome to CreativePro.com

My first impression - good production, maybe the lighting is a bit flakey, has she really got such a tan? Excellent presentation by Shellie - love her to death.

Donald Trump Experiments With Online Video Marketing

Donald Trump has dipped his toe into the Video Marketing arena with a short promotional video for Trump University.

PYV Business Case StudiesHe released the video entitled “Donald Trump and Trump University” on Youtube on the 15th February 2008.

Trump University’s marketing boss , Josef Katz is pioneering their video marketing strategy through  YouTube.

It is a really good example for me to use as the first of my Promotional Video Case Studies.

The Production

The quality is, as you would expect, excellent. At 2 minutes 34 seconds the length, in my opinion, is perfect. For me the best promos are between 2.5 and 5 minutes, any longer and the viewer is likely to get fidgety.

The lighting was effective and interesting.

The script is really good, well constructed with part narration followed by an interview with THE MAN.

I did think the interviewer with the nodding head appeared to be a little tongue-tied, but I’m sure he’s a nice man. I would have preferred to see Mr T. looking straight down the lens talking just to me.

One criticism is that it’s not targeted enough – who is his target market? Surely everybody in the world wants to be successful. Is it males – females, old – young, small businessmen – corporate managers, college leavers, middle aged wannabe businessmen? For video marketing purposes it’s a bit of a broad brush approach.
